One more very important thing to remember
is that the item you are gifting must blend in with the rest
of their home décor. Since you are close to the receivers
of these gifts, you will have an idea of what their décor
is like. Your furniture item should be one with the crowd
here, and yet special.
For example, if they have a décor of cast iron furniture and you gift them a cane sofa set, it is going to look very awkward in juxtaposition with the rest of the things. But give them a great looking mirror stand with cast iron décor that goes with the rest of their things and is still special, and you will have scored a hit with them.
If you have the money to shell out for it, you could think of antique furniture. Very few people buy antique furniture for themselves because the prices are quite prohibitive. But they make for wonderful gifts to people you hold in special esteem. Just make sure that the antique you are giving them is truly an antique, probably with a story of its own to tell.
